Browsing: Pavel Durov

Pavel Durov is a Russian-born executive who holds citizenship in four countries. He’s the CEO of Telegram Messenger Inc. and a co-founder of  VKontakte, a Russian social media and networking service. He’s become a topic of interest lately after being arrested in France on allegations that Telegram is being used on illicit activities. However, this is seen by some as a move by the western governments to censor information since unlike Meta’s Facebook & Instagram, as well as X, it doesn’t censor its users and Durov had rejected the western pressure of censorship and giving the western intelligence agencies a “back door” to the platform, which resulted to the allegations. In the present period, information is being weaponized and censored, whereas prostituted narratives get pushed to the masses, and if one doesn’t play as per the “rules of the establishment” you become a target. How far this censorship goes remains to be seen.
