The investigation into a multi-billion naira drugs contract scam at Kano Local Government Areas has taken a new turn as Musa Garba, the owner of Novomed Pharmaceuticals, agreed to appear before the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission. The contract in question was for the supply of N440m worth of drugs, part of an alleged scam involving the 44 LGAs of the state. UNICEF and Kano State Government Join Forces to Tackle Anaemia in Pregnancy The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) and the Kano State government are joining forces to address the issue of anaemia in pregnancy in the state. UNICEF commended Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, for releasing N500 million to procure Ready To Use Therapeutic Foods for children under five with severe acute malnutrition. The Kano State House of Assembly has approved the establishment of 2nd class Emirates in the state, after passing a bill into law. The bill had undergone the first reading before a recess and was subsequently brought up for the second and third reading during the latest session presided over by Speaker Jibril Falgore. A dramatic rescue mission unfolded in Zamfara State as 18 out of 20 marketers were saved from a capsized canoe en route from Kwalgai village to Hadin.
