After more than seven months of detention by Israel, the head of al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, Dr Mohammed Abu Salmiya, has been released. He believes that the conditions for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have worsened. Israeli military had claimed that al-Shifa hospital served as a Hamas command center, a charge denied by Hamas and the hospital administration. Upon release, Dr Abu Salmiya alleged that some medical staff detained by Israel had died in prison due to torture.
