Peru’s Former President Alejandro Toledo Sentenced to 20 Years in Jail for Corruption Former President of Peru, Alejandro Toledo, has been sentenced to 20 years and six months in jail for corruption and money-laundering. Prosecutors revealed that Toledo accepted $35 million in bribes from a Brazilian construction company in exchange for a contract to build a road in southern Peru during his term between 2001 and 2006.
