Boosting Recycling Rates through the Deposit Return Scheme Recent data from Re-turn reveals that a quarter of drinks containers sold aren’t being recycled via the Deposit Return Scheme, leaving millions of euros unclaimed each month. However, in August alone, 111 million containers were returned, putting €20m back in consumers’ pockets. Since the scheme’s full implementation on 31 May, a total of 458 million containers have been returned, with €79.7m refunded to customers.
