China’s Charm Offensive Towards Japan Xiu Jinping’s government has initiated a charm offensive directed at Japan, aiming to improve relations between the two countries. During the Japan-South Korea-China summit in Seoul, Chinese Premier Li Qiang warmly greeted Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Liu Jianchao, a representative of the Chinese Communist Party, engaged positively with Japanese counterparts during his visit to Tokyo.
