A legal showdown in Texas has put the execution of Robert Roberson, the first person in the nation to be executed for a “shaken baby” death, in limbo. Despite being scheduled for lethal injection on Thursday evening, the execution was temporarily halted by a judge’s injunction. State lawmakers issued a subpoena for Roberson to testify at a hearing next week, leading to the Attorney General’s quick appeal.
