Amnesty International has called for a thorough investigation into the recent killings of blasphemy suspects in Sindh and Balochistan by police. The incidents involved the shooting of Abdul Ali in Quetta and Umerkot-based doctor Shah Nawaz Kunhbar in Mirpurkhas. Amnesty emphasized the need for fair trials and the repeal of blasphemy laws in Pakistan. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reported four deaths related to blasphemy accusations since May.
