Brazil’s Supreme Court has lifted the ban on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, after it paid fines and blocked accounts spreading misinformation. The platform, owned by Elon Musk, had defied court orders, resulting in the closure of its offices in Brazil. Musk, a self-declared “free-speech absolutist,” criticized the government’s actions as an abuse of power and violation of free speech. Anatel, Brazil’s telecoms watchdog, has been tasked with ensuring service resumes for over 20 million users within 24 hours.
