Recent drone strikes targeted Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk oblasts, causing damage to agricultural buildings and equipment, according to Russian officials.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have shot down multiple drones and aerial bombs over Belgorod Oblast, with one drone reportedly causing damage to an agricultural enterprise.
Kursk Oblast also reported drone attacks damaging infrastructure facilities in 12 settlements. Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the incidents, and The Kyiv Independent could not verify the claims made by Russian officials.
Belgorod Oblast, bordering Ukraine’s Sumy, Kharkiv, and Luhansk oblasts, has seen increased reports of rocket and drone attacks amid anti-Kremlin Russian militias’ incursions into the region.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on May 10 that Russian forces had launched a new offensive targeting Kharkiv Oblast, intensifying the conflict in the region.
