A Ukrainian journalist, Zhan Novoseltsev, has been arrested for allegedly calling for armed resistance against mobilization efforts by Ukraine’s armed forces, as reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on July 23. Along with seven others, he was accused of conducting subversive activities in favor of an aggressor country.
The SBU stated that the accused used social media platforms to reach an audience of over 600,000 people, distributing content that included instructions on resisting mobilization forcefully. Searches of their residences revealed incriminating evidence.
President Volodymyr Zelensky’s new law has led to increased mobilization in Ukraine, with millions updating their registration data. The journalist, a former host on 1+1 channel, face serious charges for his actions.
