The Enugu State Government issued a stern warning on Monday against enforcing sit-at-home orders in the state. The State Security Council, chaired by Governor Peter Mbah, emphasized the need to maintain law and order in Enugu and uphold individuals’ rights to conduct lawful activities without hindrance.
The warning comes in response to calls for a sit-at-home by Simon Ekpa, prompting the state Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, to assure the public that there will be no ungoverned spaces in Enugu. Uzuegbu stated that any disruptions to peace and business in the state will be swiftly dealt with by security forces.
Uzuegbu expressed confidence in the security forces’ readiness to combat any threats to the state’s stability, with a strong commitment to safeguarding the peace and security of Enugu. The government’s message is clear: individuals must be allowed to go about their lawful activities without fear or interference.
