Presidents Santiago Peña of Paraguay and Luis Lacalle Pou of Uruguay are set to convene in Buenos Aires alongside Javier Milei for a conference on anti-terrorism. This marks their first meeting since the Mercosur Summit in July, where Milei avoided contact with Brazil’s Lula da Silva. The trio will also commemorate the 30th anniversary of the AMIA bombing.
The conservative leaders will participate in an international security and anti-terrorism conference organized by the World Jewish Congress. US envoy Debora Lipsdtadt and EU Commissioner Katharina von Schnurbein will also attend. There are security concerns for Milei, who has received threats due to his pro-Israel stance against organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.
