Russia and Ukraine have conducted another successful exchange of prisoners, with a total of 190 soldiers being released in this latest swap. Both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that 95 soldiers from each side were freed, thanks to the help of the United Arab Emirates as an intermediary.
Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to the UAE for facilitating the release of Ukrainian prisoners who were members of various armed forces. Some of these individuals had been held captive for over two years. The Coordination Headquarters for POWs in Ukraine reported that around 3,400 people have been returned from Russian captivity since the conflict began, with many suffering from neglect and mistreatment.
Meanwhile, Russia stated that the returning soldiers would undergo medical examinations and rehabilitation upon arrival in Moscow. This prisoner exchange marks the third such event in seven weeks, highlighting ongoing efforts to bring soldiers home and promote peace between the two nations.
