Welcome to the Future of International Transportation with Kazakhstan and Türkiye
ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 6. Exciting news in the world of transportation as President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signs the law ratifying the Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of Türkiye on international combined transportation of goods.
During the presentation of the draft law in the Senate of the Parliament, Vice Minister of Transport Satzhan Ablaliyev highlighted the significance of the agreement. It will facilitate regular railway and ferry operations on the Caspian Sea, improve communication and transit services on railway lines connecting the two countries, and streamline cargo transportation including international container block trains.
Ablaliyev shares, “Efforts are underway to expedite cargo delivery from China to Europe via the Trans-Caspian International Transportation Route (Middle Corridor) which comprises rail, road, and water transportation. Delivery times have already been reduced to 19-23 days, with 6 days passing through Kazakhstan – making it twice as fast as last year. This agreement will certainly boost the development of TITR.”
Furthermore, a Joint Committee for the Development of Transportation will be established to address any issues that may arise from the agreement and enhance the speed and efficiency of transit transportation.
The Middle Corridor serves as a vital transportation and trade route linking Asia and Europe, offering an alternative path to the traditional Northern and Southern Corridors. Beginning in China, the route traverses Central Asian nations like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, crosses the Caspian Sea, stretches through Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, before reaching Europe.
By providing a land route that connects the eastern regions of Asia, notably China, with Europe, the Middle Corridor offers a faster alternative to longer maritime routes.
