In a recent cyber operation, Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) hacked nearly 100 Russian websites supporting the Kremlin’s war efforts, replacing them with a gruesome image. This attack, carried out on July 15 with help from volunteer hackers, targeted companies serving Russian public sector clients participating in the war against Ukraine.
The hacked companies included MITgroup, United Crane Technologies, and RUMOS-LADA. The altered websites now display a pig’s head and the error code ‘404’ instead of their original content.
HUR has conducted various cyberattacks in recent months, including a large-scale attack in June that disrupted communication for 250,000 consumers in occupied Crimea and Russian-controlled territories. While these claims could not be verified independently, the impact of cyber warfare in the ongoing conflict is evident.
