A recent investigation into the Chonji Lubricant Factory in Nampo uncovered corruption and safety violations, resulting in management changes and potential job losses for employees. The factory was under scrutiny for escalating industrial lubricant production as part of a government initiative. Investigators found theft of materials, safety breaches, and mismanagement, leading to possible dismissals for around 20 workers.
To address these issues, the factory plans to recruit new workers from vocational schools and provide stringent training. The city prosecutors labeled the factory a “den of thieves,” prompting heightened monitoring by the local government. Two managers were fired for concealing fire incidents and favoring acquaintances during the probe. The factory faces a challenging period ahead as it seeks to restore integrity and compliance.
