Welcome to our blog! The Acting Special Coordinator for the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI), Helaina Matza, is embarking on a journey to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan from July 14-19. Her mission is to further US-led efforts in facilitating strategic infrastructure investments in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor.
This corridor serves as a vital transportation and trade route connecting Asia and Europe, offering an alternative to the traditional Northern and Southern Corridors. Starting in China, it passes through Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, before traversing the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye to reach Europe.
During her visit, Matza will engage with government officials and private sector partners to explore potential infrastructure projects and financing opportunities along the Middle Corridor. This land route provides a direct connection between eastern Asia, specifically China, and Europe, bypassing longer maritime routes.
Stay tuned for updates as Helaina Matza embarks on her journey to enhance global infrastructure and investment opportunities in this crucial region!
