Milei rides tank through Independence Day parade
Argentine President Javier Milei and Vice President Victoria Villarruel made a bold statement during the Independence Day parade in Buenos Aires by riding an Army tank, a rare sight for heads of state. Despite economic challenges, thousands cheerfully lined the streets to witness the event.
While inflation has decreased under Milei’s administration, there has been a significant decline in GDP and a rise in unemployment. The parade also included 3,000 veterans from the Falklands War, causing mixed reactions from supporters and critics.
Milei’s tank, part of the modernized TAM units, symbolized a strong stance on national defense. The Vice President expressed gratitude for the gesture, while former Army Chief César Milani highlighted the tank’s significance in Argentine history.
