France’s New Popular Front will nominate a candidate for the head of the French government within one week, announced Olivier Faure, the leader of the Socialist party. The left-wing New Popular Front coalition secured 182 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly, as per the French Interior Ministry.
The choice of the candidate will be decided this week either by consensus or by vote, stated Faure. This development comes after President Emmanuel Macron’s bloc obtained 168 seats and Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardelle’s National Rally garnered 143 parliamentary seats.
This outcome suggests a potential shift in French governance, with analysts predicting a fragile governing coalition. Stay tuned for updates as the political landscape in France evolves.
