Opposition Leader Peter Dutton recently stated that a Labor minority government with alliances with Muslim independents and other crossbenchers would be catastrophic, citing it as a “disaster.” Dutton expressed concerns about a potential government led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, warning that it would include groups like the Greens and Muslim candidates from Western Sydney.
Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja denounced Dutton’s remarks, calling them disgraceful. Khawaja, who is Muslim, condemned the comments, labeling them as “bigotry at its finest,” and accused Dutton of fueling Islamophobia.
Despite Khawaja’s criticism, Dutton denied having issues with religiously motivated political parties, emphasizing that his concern lies with supporting causes outside of Australia.
