Tragic Murder in Unity State Displaced People’s Camp
An unidentified assailant brutally attacked and killed 53-year-old Nguot Gai Liah in his home in the Bentiu displaced people’s camp in Unity State. The incident occurred at 3 a.m. on Wednesday when Liah stepped out of his shelter. This marks the second such tragedy in the camp since its handover to the state government in 2020.
John Malieth, the police spokesperson in Unity State, has vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice, emphasizing that the joint police forces are diligently working on the case. Malieth stated, “When we arrest him, the full force of the law will be brought against him as he committed a crime against the community.”
Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made yet. However, the authorities are determined to find the murderer and ensure justice is served for the victim and his family. This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the challenges faced by displaced people and the importance of maintaining security in such vulnerable areas.
