The US Department of Defense has announced a new $2.2 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which includes air defenses and other munitions. This package is in addition to the $150 million aid approved separately by President Joseph Biden.
The funds from the larger package will be used to purchase interceptors for the “Patriot” and “Nasams” systems. The second part of the funds will include missiles for the anti-aircraft system “hok”, ammunition for “haimars”, artillery shells, anti-armor systems “javelin” and missiles “tov”.
This aid package is crucial in providing Ukraine with the necessary tools to defend itself against potential threats, and demonstrates the US commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
With tensions rising in the region, this aid package is a significant show of support from the US and reinforces the strong partnership between the two countries.
