Former US officials resign over Biden administration’s Gaza policy
Twelve former US government officials have resigned over the Biden administration’s policy on Gaza, calling it a “failure and a threat to US national security.” They released a joint statement addressing the administration’s policy proposals regarding Israel’s war on Gaza.
The statement, signed by former officials from the State Department, USAID, US military, and political staff, accuses the administration of putting America’s national security at risk and undermining US credibility worldwide.
They propose implementing US Leahy Laws to prohibit military assistance to forces involved in human rights violations, expanding humanitarian assistance to Gaza, supporting self-determination for Palestinians, and reforming organizational cultures and structures within the government.
The former officials urge their colleagues to not be complicit and to work towards preventing similar policy failures in the future.
