Tragedy struck in the Ukrainian capital as Kazakh opposition figure and blogger, Aydos Sadykov, passed away after being shot in an assassination attempt. The 56-year-old fell into a coma for nearly two weeks before succumbing to his injuries. His wife, Natalia Sadykova, mourned his loss and pointed fingers at Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for her husband’s death.
Investigators have identified two suspects, both citizens of Kazakhstan, who fled to Moldova after the attack. While one suspect has been detained by Kazakh authorities, Ukraine seeks their extradition for trial. Despite tensions, Tokayev has expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation through Interpol.
Sadykov was a vocal critic of the Kazakh government and had moved to Kiev with his family seeking refuge in 2014. His passing has sparked outrage and calls for justice in the face of political suppression.
His legacy lives on in the fight for freedom of expression and justice. Rest in peace, Aydos Sadykov.
