Kazakh opposition journalist Aidos Sadykov tragically passed away in Kyiv on July 2 after being in a coma for 13 days following an assassination attempt. His wife announced his death on Facebook, blaming Kazakh President Tokayev for her husband’s murder.
The Ukrainian police identified two Kazakhstan citizens as suspects in the case, with one being detained already. Sadykov, a former political prisoner known for his opposition to the Kazakh government, had been living in Kyiv as a refugee with his family.
Before his death, Sadykov was actively involved in criticizing the Kazakh government through his YouTube channel and supporting protests against government actions. His assassination has raised concerns about press freedom and political dissent in Kazakhstan.
