Russian border regions report power outages after Ukrainian attacks
Recent drone strikes in the Russian region of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, have resulted in disruptions to electricity and gas supplies, as well as damage to telephone lines. Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that the attacks have caused extensive damage, particularly in the villages of Grayvoron, Krasnaya Yaruga, and Shebekino, affecting the border areas.
Reports indicate that Belgorod and the town of Oskol have also experienced power outages, with a damaged substation cited as the cause. In the neighboring Kursk region, governor Alexei Smirnov warned of potential electricity capacity deficits following drone attacks that were successfully intercepted overnight.
The incidents underline the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with cross-border hostilities impacting the daily lives of residents in the affected regions.
