The Presidency has refuted claims of running four budgets in the 2024 fiscal year, dismissing allegations made by former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi. The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Temitope Ajayi, clarified that there is no plan to have four budgets concurrently.
Ajayi emphasized the importance of focusing on capital expenditures to drive economic growth, create job opportunities, and enhance sustainable development. He cautioned civic organization, BudgIT, against spreading misinformation and sensationalism.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, explained that the 2023 and 2024 budgets will run simultaneously due to decisions made by the National Assembly. BudgiT has criticized the elongation of the implementation period for both budgets, expressing concerns over the anomalies in the government’s financial planning.
It is essential for the government to prioritize capital investments and prudent fiscal management to ensure long-term economic stability and prosperity for the nation.
