Rail Track Maintainers Await Insulated Water Bottles Despite Ministry’s Order
Lakhs of rail track maintainers are still waiting for two-litre insulated water bottles, as directed by the Railway Ministry in April. The All India Railway Track Maintainers Union claims that despite reminders, many zones have not initiated the distribution process. Where distribution has started, inferior quality bottles are being provided.
The purpose of providing these bottles is to keep track maintainers hydrated during intense heat conditions. This initiative aims to prevent track maintainers from falling sick due to unhygienic water sources in rural areas where they work. However, delays and poor quality bottles have hindered the implementation of this crucial facility.
Despite the Railway Board’s instructions, some divisions, like the Western, North-Eastern, Central, and others, have not followed through with the distribution. The track maintainers, who play a vital role in ensuring safe train operations, continue to face challenges without proper facilities.
It is essential for the Railway Ministry to prioritize the well-being of track maintainers who work tirelessly to ensure the safety of passengers. Delaying such a small yet crucial facility reflects poorly on the government’s commitment to the welfare of its employees.
