Mercosur Summit Preview: Brazil’s Domestic Integration Policy
Next month, from Thursday, July 4th to 8th, the Mercosur pro tempore presidency will be handed over from Paraguay to Uruguay during the regional presidential summit in Asunción. The transfer will see leaders like Argentina’s Javier Milei and Brazil’s Lula da Silva navigating their differences at the event.
Despite challenges in securing a trade deal with the EU, Brazil has focused on domestic integration policies. Initiatives like the “Mercosul Atlantic Corridor” have aimed to connect key regions and hubs within the country to strengthen overall economic ties.
Starting back in 1995, this project has expanded to include strategic discussions and collaborations with stakeholders across various sectors. By re-launching and reimagining this model, Brazil could further enhance its position in Mercosur and foster valuable alliances in the global market.
