In a bid to support female students, the Gujarat government has launched two schemes benefiting nearly 4.37 lakh girls in Classes 9 to 12. The ‘Namo Lakshmi Yojana’ has attracted 4.03 lakh registrations, while the ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana’ has seen 37,000 enrollments.
The ‘Namo Lakshmi Yojana’ offers Rs 50,000 over four years to eligible girls with a family income below Rs 6 lakh per annum, supporting their education from Class 9 to 12. Beneficiaries will receive monthly stipends and exam rewards, while the ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana’ aims to promote science streams among students, offering financial incentives to those in Classes 11 and 12.
Both schemes aim to empower girls in government, aided, and private schools, with funds disbursed directly to their bank accounts through DBT. As a part of the annual ‘Shala Praveshotsav – Kanya Kelavni Mahotsav’, these initiatives mark a significant step towards advancing girls’ education in Gujarat.
