The Bayraktar TB3 Sets New Altitude Record
The Bayraktar TB3 unmanned combat aerial vehicle developed by Turkish defense firm Baykar has surpassed expectations by reaching an altitude of 36,310 feet. Equipped with the PD-170 engine developed domestically by Tusas Engine Industries, this drone is on its way to breaking the altitude record of 45,118 feet held by the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV. The TB3 took off from a ramp that simulates conditions on the deck of the TCG Anadolu, where it will be deployed in the Turkish Navy.
With a folding wing structure, the Bayraktar TB3 will be the first UCAV capable of taking off and landing from short-runway ships. This drone has logged impressive flight hours and was recently tested on a 32-hour mission covering over 3,500 miles. Baykar plans to begin testing on the TCG Anadolu in 2024.
Turkish drones produced by Baykar have already proven their effectiveness in various conflicts globally, demonstrating the critical role of unmanned aerial systems in modern combat.
