Tragedy Strikes on the Nile River: Four Killed in Boat Attack
Four individuals lost their lives and six others were injured in a violent attack on a commercial motor boat traveling along the Nile River. The boat, originating from Panyijiar County in Unity State and headed towards Juba, fell victim to violence in the Nyirol County region near Lakes State.
Elijah Thongbor, the Secretary General of the Boat Traders Union in Jonglei State, recounted the tragic incident, emphasizing the impact on traders and students who heavily rely on river transport. Urging swift government action, Thongbor pointed to neighboring Lakes State as the likely source of the attack and called for measures to ensure the safety of travelers and traders alike.
The Boat Traders Union is adamant that the South Sudanese government must step in to prevent further tragedies and safeguard its citizens. With lives at stake, immediate intervention is crucial to avoid additional casualties and maintain the security of all individuals utilizing river transportation.
