Kazakhstan Boosting Transport Projects to Develop Trans-Caspian International Transport Route
The Minister of National Economy, Nurlan Baibazarov, announced that Kazakhstan is actively implementing various transport projects to support the growth of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor. This includes completing the construction of key highways like Taldykorgan-Oskemen and Astana-Almaty, as well as railway projects like Dostyk-Moyynty and Darbaza-Maktaaral.
By investing in these infrastructure projects, Kazakhstan aims to strengthen its position as a vital transit hub in Central Asia and enhance its transit potential. The country is also updating its rail system with new freight cars, utilizing domestic production facilities to support local industries.
The Middle Corridor offers a strategic land route connecting Asia and Europe, providing an alternative to longer maritime routes. Starting from China, the route passes through Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.
With its focus on developing transport and transit capabilities, Kazakhstan is poised to play a key role in facilitating trade and connectivity between Asia and Europe through the Middle Corridor.
