Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan has raised concerns about the inconsistent flight schedules of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to Gilgit and Skardu airports. In a letter to the federal Minister for Aviation, Khan criticized PIA for causing inconvenience to residents and visitors, impacting government commitments and essential travel for officials.
He highlighted the increase in flight cancellations, delays, and unreliable scheduling, affecting both domestic and international travelers. The lack of prior notice for cancellations has led to missed opportunities and a loss of trust in PIA’s reliability.
Khan urged the federal government to address the issue promptly to ensure regular and timely flights to the region. The disruptions have caused financial losses, heightened anxiety among passengers, and delayed important projects.
As the primary mode of transportation for government officials, air travel plays a crucial role in attending meetings and engagements across Pakistan. The CM emphasized the need for improved flight services to support tourism and governmental functions in Gilgit-Baltistan.
