Members of the Ukrainian parliament’s anti-corruption committee criticized the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) for his handling of a scandal involving leaks from the bureau. The NABU employees allegedly leaked information to suspects in a corruption investigation, leading to turmoil within the agency.
The NABU’s first deputy chief, Gizo Uglava, has been suspended amid the leak investigation, which has raised concerns about the bureau’s credibility. The head of NABU, Semen Kryvonos, has been accused of failing to address the scandal promptly and adequately.
Additionally, a separate scandal involving the NABU’s decision to halt a planned search at the house of a prominent figure linked to a corruption case has further raised questions about the agency’s integrity.
The controversy surrounding the leak scandal has highlighted the need for transparency and accountability within Ukraine’s anti-corruption efforts.
