The Patriotic Alliance (PA) believes that the ANC does not need the DA’s permission to include new parties in the government of national unity (GNU). DA federal chairperson Helen Zille has argued that clause 24 of the GNU statement of intent states that the ANC should consult existing partners before admitting new parties into the GNU.
During an interview on SABC News programme Face The Nation, Zille referenced clause 24 of the ANC’s statement of intent, emphasizing the need for consultation among existing parties when new parties wish to join the GNU.
