Tragedy struck at the Juneteenth Festival in Old Settlers Park on Saturday night when a fight escalated into a shooting incident. Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks confirmed that multiple people were shot as a result of the altercation between two groups. The suspect, described as having a thin build, short dreadlocks, and wearing a white hoodie, is currently at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect or details of the incident to come forward. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting.
Fourteen victims were rushed to hospitals, with at least six sustaining potentially serious injuries. Among the injured were four adults and two children who were transported to trauma facilities. Sadly, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, and it remains unclear how many shooters were involved in the incident.
The shooting took place near the vendor area of the concert stage where the festival, organized by a local nonprofit and the city government, was being held. Details about the victims’ conditions have not been disclosed by authorities.
