Despite concerns about housing, no Ukrainians in Ireland have been left without accommodation after the 90-day limit on free housing. The new policy, which began on March 14, ensures those leaving designated centers have alternative housing secured.
Announcements were made at all Designated Accommodation Centers, informing residents of the need for alternative housing. So far, all individuals reaching the 90-day limit have had accommodations arranged for them.
Organizations continue to worry about families struggling to find housing beyond the deadline. The government reiterated that no one can stay in the centers for longer than 90 days. Those leaving can apply for social welfare assistance.
Of the 2,260 Ukrainians granted temporary protection, 60% accepted state-provided housing. 24% found housing through pledged properties, and 55% found private accommodation. Hosted accommodation does not fall under the 90-day rule and is a common choice.
While challenges remain, efforts are being made to ensure all Ukrainians have a stable living situation as they navigate their new life in Ireland.
