The United States has resumed delivering much-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza after repairs were made to a temporary pier damaged by a storm, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). Despite the devastating war in Gaza, the US delivered approximately 492 metric tons of aid without military personnel ashore.
Israel has been criticized for delaying aid deliveries to Gaza, leaving 2.4 million people in desperate need of clean water, food, medicines, and fuel. The repaired pier was originally announced by President Joe Biden in March and was quickly deployed by US Army troops and vessels to the Mediterranean.
While some argue that sea or air deliveries are less efficient than truck convoys, the situation in Gaza remains dire. The pier had no role in Israel’s operation to rescue hostages but was solely dedicated to delivering life-saving assistance.
Despite challenges, the aid deliveries signal hope for the people of Gaza and highlight the importance of international assistance in times of crisis.
