In a tragic incident that occurred more than three months ago outside a warming centre in Toronto, a man lost his life in an unprovoked attack. Recently, the Toronto police have charged the suspected assailant with manslaughter.
The incident took place on Feb. 27 at 1:30 a.m. in the area of Elizabeth Street and Dundas Street West. The suspect, allegedly approached a group of people on the sidewalk and initiated a confrontation. He then struck the victim in the head without any provocation, leading to the victim falling to the ground.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. The 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody and initially faced assault-related charges. However, following the results of the autopsy, the charges have been elevated to manslaughter.
