The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) reaffirmed its commitment to providing healthcare services to patients amidst ongoing strikes by organised labour. In a statement signed by Dr Benjamin Egbo, the NMA clarified that while it is not affiliated with organised labour, it empathizes with the challenges faced by Nigerians.
Contrary to reports from some media outlets, NMA members are not on strike and will continue attending to patients in need of medical care. The association urged the government and other stakeholders to address the issues causing the impasse to alleviate the suffering of the Nigerian people.
As an independent body, the NMA remains dedicated to its duty of serving the public and ensuring access to healthcare. While recognising the struggles faced by the nation, the NMA stands ready to provide the necessary care and support to those in need.
