The Nigeria Police Force is urging the organised labour to reconsider their planned strike and resume negotiations with the Federal Government to avoid potential unrest and hardships for Nigerians. The police emphasized the importance of resolving issues through dialogue rather than resorting to industrial action.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, the police highlighted the illegality and premature nature of the planned strike, cautioning against escalating tensions and political instability. The Nigeria Police Force assured the public of ample deployments to maintain order and encouraged citizens to carry on with their lawful activities.
Despite a failed meeting with National Assembly leaders, the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Unions Congress remain adamant about commencing the strike over minimum wage demands. The labour leaders expressed the need for further discussions with their respective organs before considering any appeals to call off the strike.
