Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused China of obstructing peace efforts by preventing countries from attending a summit that excludes Russia. Speaking at a security forum in Singapore, Zelenskyy urged for more military aid for Ukraine, which is battling Russian troops. China insists that for the peace summit to be effective, it must involve all parties including Russia. However, Zelenskyy expressed disappointment at some world leaders’ reluctance to participate.
Zelenskyy described China as a tool in Putin’s hands, accusing Russia of using Chinese influence to disrupt the peace summit. Despite China claiming neutrality, it has faced criticism for not condemning Russia’s actions. Zelenskyy also met with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to discuss defense needs and reinforce U.S. support against Russian aggression.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, especially in the Kharkiv region, underscores the urgent need for international support. Zelenskyy’s efforts to secure aid highlight the gravity of the situation and the consequences of international fatigue over the war. The peace summit aims to gather global backing for Ukraine’s vision to end the conflict and restore peace.
