Ukrainian forces achieved a milestone in May by destroying 1,160 Russian artillery systems, marking a record month since the onset of the full-scale invasion, as stated by the Defense Ministry on June 1. The ministry shared a graph on X, illustrating the previous peak of 976 destroyed Russian artillery pieces in March.
The Defense Ministry declared, “It’s another record. 1,160 Russian artillery systems were destroyed in May. It’s the biggest number of artillery losses in two years of the war,” emphasizing the continual efforts of Ukrainian forces in converting Russian weapons into scrap metal.
With a total of 13,184 artillery systems lost by Russia since the commencement of the all-out war, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported the significant impact of Ukraine in dismantling crucial Russian military hardware.
In a recent operation, drones under the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) incapacitated a Russian Nebo-SVU long-range radar system in Crimea, further showcasing Ukraine’s effective countermeasures.
