The convoy of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) President Nawabzada Khalid Hussain Magsi was attacked in Nasirabad district’s Notal area. Dacoits opened fire while trying to escape from Levies personnel. Sibi DC Jahanzeb Sheikh stated that dacoits frequently looted travellers on the National Highway, with a similar incident occurring that day.
Levies personnel intervened, thwarting six dacoits on motorcycles. An exchange of fire ensued, leading to the suspects mistakenly targeting Magsi’s convoy. Thankfully, Magsi remained unharmed and the robbers fled when the convoy defended itself. Additional forces were summoned to assist in capturing the culprits.
Political figures such as President Asif Ali Zardari and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti expressed concern over the lapse in security and demanded swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Former Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani also denounced the attack as a deliberate conspiracy and urged the provincial government to apprehend those responsible.
