The handover ceremony of kitchen equipment in Greater Madaba Municipality was a significant event attended by the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan and the Mayor of the municipality. The Government of Japan generously donated $90,183 for kitchen equipment to empower local women in seeking employment opportunities. The kitchen, part of the municipality’s economic development plan, aims to provide skill training and job opportunities for women to reduce the high unemployment rate in the region.
During the ceremony, Ambassador OKUYAMA praised the municipality’s commitment to social and economic development, emphasizing the importance of empowering women in the labor market. This initiative is a part of Japan’s ongoing support through the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, with over $10 million extended for 159 projects in Jordan since 1993.
The partnership between Japan and Greater Madaba Municipality highlights the shared commitment to enhancing livelihoods and addressing local challenges through sustainable initiatives.
