Exclusive: A mother and online influencer who is at the centre of horrific allegations of harming her one-year-old child has broken her silence when contacted by 9News today.
“It is so unfair and it’s getting addressed at the moment with the proper counsel,” she said.
Asked if she harmed her daughter, she responded by saying: “No, I can’t talk to you, I’ve said this is a matter that cannot be spoken on.”
Investigations are tonight under way, led by detectives from Queensland Police’s Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit.
South Brisbane District Chief Superintendent Andrew Pilotto said police had “taken action to ensure the child’s safety”.
“It is protracted and complicated, and it will take a bit of time, but I can assure you the child is safe, whilst that investigation is ongoing,” he said.
“I can’t go into the methodology of why that will take time, but it will take some time.”
Since the baby was first hospitalised, more than $60,000 had been donated to an online GoFundMe page, those funds have now been frozen.
“Our Trust and Safety specialists are investigating the accusations made as part of our standard due diligence process,” a GoFundMe spokesperson said today.
“This includes cooperating with police investigations.
“We are committed to being the safest place to give and have spent over a decade building the teams, technologies and policies to protect Australian generosity.
“This includes the GoFundMe Giving Guarantee, which guarantees a refund in the rare case something is not right.
“Whilst the investigation is ongoing, no further funds can be raised, or withdrawn.”
No arrests have been made and no charges laid.
