Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, inaugurated on Saturday the Iraqi-Korean Specialized Hospital in the Medical City in Baghdad.
Al-Sudani explained that the government is making efforts to develop Iraq’s healthcare industry and is collaborating with reputable foreign businesses as an approved strategy, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
In addition to highlighting the value of moving forward with the implementation of health insurance, the Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized the significance of specialized centers as a key component of health care and the importance of generalizing this expertise with the cutting-edge technology they offer.
The Iraqi Minister of Health, Salih Al-Hasnawi, reviewed the ministry’s achievements during the past two years, where 13 new hospitals, three specialized centers, two burn centers, and 25 kidney treatment centers have been constructed.
Al-Hasnawi added that the government is working on 16 other hospitals to provide health care services to citizens throughout Iraq.
Iraq has a diverse healthcare system comprising public and private hospitals, with numerous facilities spread across its various governorates.
Iraq’s healthcare system includes public hospitals operated by the Ministry of Health, where facilities are often underfunded and face challenges such as limited resources and outdated equipment, and private hospitals, which represent a growing sector that offers more advanced medical services and shorter wait times.
There are currently over 90 private hospitals across Iraq.
Iraq’s healthcare system is gradually evolving with a mix of public and private institutions striving to improve medical services.
Notable hospitals like Baghdad Medical City serve as key healthcare providers, while private facilities offer alternatives that cater to patients seeking specialized care.
