Western powers are now divided over the idea of Ukraine using Western-supplied weapons to attack Russia, shifting from their initial stance of supplying arms for defense.
Recently, NATO officials, including Jens Stoltenberg, have expressed support for Ukraine launching attacks on Russian soil, despite warnings of potential conflict escalation from Moscow.
On the other hand, some leaders, such as Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, advocate for restricting the use of weapons to Ukrainian territory only.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized Ukraine’s autonomy in decision-making regarding cross-border attacks, while Austria maintains its neutrality in military affairs.
Moscow highlights the dangers of such actions, fueling concerns about a potential direct confrontation with NATO.
